ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — An Englewood woman accused of killing a 40-year-old man by beating him to death with a baseball bat told authorities she did it because the victim had sexually assaulted her daughter.
Forsythia Owen is being held on a charge of first-degree murder.
According to police, officers found Denzel Rainey, 42, in an alley in the 3600 block of South Sherman and South Grant near Hwy. 285 and S. Broadway around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Rainey was taken to Swedish Medical Center, where he later died, said Kevin Sage of the Englewood Police Department. An autopsy found Rainey had multiple blunt force injuries, a skull fracture, six broken ribs, which cut his liver, two broken arms and a broken wrist.
According to her arrest affidavit, on Monday, detectives interviewed Owen who told them that Rainey had “sexually abused” a girl. Owen said she knew Rainey slept in an alley and used a baseball bat to attack him while he was sleeping, the affidavit said.
