Texas angler Tucker K. Owing was fishing on Lake Athens this weekend when a huge bolt of lightning suddenly struck the water directly in front of his boat. The 16-year-old professional bass fisherman recorded the close call on a GoPro camera.
Immediately before the strike, Owing told KPHO, "We were literally feeling what I would describe as static on our rods. At that point we quickly started to head to the ramp."
The scare didn't leave Owing unfazed. "I am one of the youngest professionals in the fishing industry and just learned a very important lesson," he said. "I am thankful God protected us."
