Director of Lakewood High’s viral Katy Perry video tells how they did it

((this is very well done.  I watched it the other morning on KDVR and the choreography is amazing--especially when you can see that she was working with ordinary high school students...watch it for yourself....--alexis))

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Courtney Coddington, the director and producer of the video that has now gone viral of Lakewood High School students lip dubbing Katy Perry’s “Roar,” stopped by FOX31 to talk about the process of creating the music video.

Lakewood High produced yet another video of more than 2,000 students and staff dubbing a Katy Perry hit song, this time choosing her latest single “Roar,” to pay homage to the school’s mascot Growly the Tiger.
The video, filmed in one continuous shot, travels through Lakewood High’s hallways featuring cheerleaders, members of school clubs, sports teams, student council and the orchestra.

Katy Perry even raved about the video on Twitter Wednesday saying:

Oh my GAWD. Now this is what I call school SPIRIT: http://vimeo.com/75058173  I hear you roaring LAKEWOOD HIGH! 🐯

This is the second time the school has performed a lip dub to one of Perry’s singles. In 2011, hundreds of students chose to lip dub Perry’s “Firework.” The video went viral, and Perry commented on her Facebook saying, “Lakewood High has some FIREWORKS! Go Tigers!”
The 2013 video was edited by Gavin Rudy.
