received 20 more orders for its C919 passenger aircraft, taking the total number to 400. |
The corporation says the latest order is from China’s Industrial Bank Financial Leasing. So far, the plane has been sold to 16 customers at home and abroad.
"Signing this contract is a landmark. The production of the largest part of aircraft will be completed next year. Orders for the C919 show the increasing demand and confidence for aircraft made in China." Tian Min, chief accountant of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China said.
The C919 was scheduled to make its first flight next year, but that has now been delayed until 2015.
Tian said a modern commercial aircraft is comprised of millions of parts and dozens of complicated systems and also a project involving hundreds of work units home and abroad. The maiden flight is being postponed for safety reasons.
The C919 will compete with the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 family of aircraft.
Meanwhile, the development for other corporate aircraft based on the C919 is underway.
