This Cop Cares...............

Cop honored for "quiet good deed"

When Albuquerque police rushed to respond to a domestic dispute call, Officer Hector Marquez, Jr, ended the incident with an act of kindness. Marquez says it was a heartbreaking sight of six kids, two feuding, with one caretaker: A frazzled grandmother in her 60s. The mother is in and out of jail, Marquez learned. And adding to the problem, the family is living on depleted food stamps, over a week away from being replenished. Hearing the story, Marquez drove to the store and picked up some food staples, paying with his own money as well as contributions from fire department responders on the scene. He tried to do it quietly but another officer called attention to his actions, leading to an honor from the department.
