Robin Roberts will return to "Good Morning America" full time following Labor Day weekend.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Roberts discussed her next big step in returning to the morning show she departed a year ago to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Currently, Roberts hosts "GMA" four days per week. But starting next week, she will return to a full schedule with hosting all five weekdays.
"But I love that I start on a four-day week. Right? Snuck another one in there," she joked with Vanity Fair's Bennett Marcus.
Roberts underwent a bone marrow transplant last September after she was diagnosed with MDS, a rare blood and bone marrow disorder. She returned to "GMA" in February, after taking more than six months of medical leave. She returned to the show slowly -- taking time to get back on the morning show schedule and preparing for the show. She went into the studio for full hair and makeup but took a week to watch the show from the studio before returning. She then rejoined the on-air "GMA" team, and even flew Washington D.C. to interview Michelle Obama and then to Los Angeles to host ABC's Academy Awards red carpet coverage -- all within her first few weeks back on the job.
