After two months of meticulous repair, an antique clock that was damaged by a visitor in Beijing’s Forbidden City is now ready to resume its original place at the Palace of Earthly Honor.

The ornate mantle clock was made by a British craftsman in the 18th century. Last May, a disgruntled visitor broke the glass cover of the clock, causing it to fall off the shelf.

Experts have been able to restore most of its original functions, but damage in two places is permanent and can not be restored. The Palace Museum is planning to tighten security and replace glass covers of certain showrooms to prevent similar cases in the future.
