KATY PERRY ROCKS AT LAKEWOOD HIGH

Katy Perry rocks Colorado in Lakewood High School cheerleader outfit

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Katy Perry was roaring at Lakewood High School in a performance that was broadcast for the whole world to see.

The local high school received the rights to host the concert after winning a contest on Good Morning America for a video they produced, showing more than 2,000 students and staff lip dubbing Perry’s hit song “Roar.”

Courtney Coddington, the director and producer of Lakewood’s viral video, stopped by FOX31 Denver last month to talk about the process of creating the music video, which was meant to pay homage not only to Perry’s song, but to the school’s mascot, Growly the Tiger.

The video, filmed in one continuous shot, travels through Lakewood High’s hallways featuring cheerleaders, members of school clubs, sports teams, student council and the orchestra.

Even before the contest, Katy Perry raved about the video on Twitter.

This is the second time the school has performed a lip dub to one of Perry’s singles. In 2011, hundreds of students chose to lip dub Perry’s “Firework.” The winning video also went viral, and Perry commented on her Facebook saying, “Lakewood High has some FIREWORKS! Go Tigers!”

The 2013 video was edited by Gavin Rudy.
